(i) The periodic vibrations of decreasing amplitude due to the presence of a resistive force are called as damped vibrations.
(ii) Examples:
- A vibrating tuning fork in air
- Oscillations of a simple pendulum in air
- A slim branch of a tree pulled and released
(iii) Forced vibration or resonance
