Answer
(i) Combining two or more lighter nuclei to form a heavy nucleus is nuclear fusion whereas splitting a heavy nucleus into two or more lighter nuclei is nuclear fission.
(ii) Should be disposed in thick lead casks away from colonies and deep into the earth.
