Functions of General Assembly:

  1. To make recommendations for the peaceful settlement of disputes
  2. To promote political, social and economic cooperation
  3. To receive and consider reports from the Security Council and other organs of UN.
  4. To consider and approve the budget of the UN.
  5. To regulate the working of other organs and agencies of UN.
  6. To elect the non-permanent members of the Security Council.
  7. To elect judges of the ICJ.
  8. To appoint Secretary General on the recommendation of Security Council.
  9. To amend the UN Charter.
  10. Functions under ‘Uniting for Peace Resolution’ 1950.
  11. New members are admitted by the General Assembly on the recommendation of Security Council.
